Philippine National Bank (PNB) is extending a P1-billion credit facility to Billease, giving the consumer finance firm fresh capital to grow its loan book as it taps more local banks for funding.
The facility is backed by Billease consumer loan receivables registered under the Personal Property Security Registry, giving PNB a first-ranking claim over the pledged assets.
Billease said the facility is over-collateralized, with pledged loans maintained above the outstanding amount. Repaid or delinquent loans will be replaced with new receivables, while related cash collections will prioritize payments to PNB.
“Billease has demonstrated strong portfolio quality across different market cycles. This track record gave us confidence to establish this relationship at a meaningful scale,” PNB executive vice president and institutional banking sector head Roberto Fo. Abastillas said.
“We see this as the beginning of a broader partnership and look forward to exploring additional opportunities to work together,” he added.
The deal comes as Billease rapidly expands its consumer lending business. Revenue jumped more than 80% to P8.7 billion in 2025, while net profit reached P782 million.
Its gross loan portfolio surged more than 77% to about P12.5 billion, with total assets reaching P13.7 billion. The company ended 2025 with P6.4 billion in equity and P7.1 billion in borrowings.
“PNB coming on board is a strong signal, it says the largest institutions in the market are ready to fund this kind of lending when it is done with discipline,” Billease co-founder and CEO Georg Steiger said.
Billease is also diversifying its funding sources after acquiring a rural bank, which could eventually allow it to offer savings and deposit products and lower its cost of capital.
