NatRe taps retired executive Alexander Reyes as new president and CEO

The National Reinsurance Corporation of the Philippines (Nat Re) has brought Alexander Reyes out of retirement to serve as its new president and CEO.

At a board meeting held today, Nat Re said its Board of Directors approved Reyes’ election as a member of the board, effective October 1, 2026.

Reyes will succeed Allan Santos, the company’s incumbent director, president and CEO, who is set to retire on the same date.

Reyes retired from Nat Re in June 2021 as senior vice president and head of non-life reinsurance. He originally joined the company in October 2014 as senior vice president and head of claims.
Before joining Nat Re, Reyes held various senior management positions in marketing, sales, underwriting and claims operations at leading non-life insurance companies in the Philippines.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 1982.

Nat Re provides life and non-life reinsurance capacity, as well as consultancy, technical and advisory services to direct insurers in emerging markets. Its services help insurers manage retention and capital, maximize net premiums based on their risk appetites, and pursue strategies to strengthen their competitiveness.
In 2025, Nat Re reported a 50.5% increase in net income to a record P829.5 million, driven by strong underwriting performance and consistently robust investment income.
