Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co., led by bilyonaryo Arthur Ty, is giving shareholders another payday in September, setting the schedule for the second half of its P3-per-share regular cash dividend for 2026.
In a regulatory filing, Metrobank said its board fixed Sept. 9 as the record date and Sept. 25 as the payment date for the second P1.50-per-share dividend approved in February.
The payout comes as Metrobank keeps earnings steady despite what it described as a challenging operating environment.
The country’s third-largest bank by assets booked a net income of P24.9 billion in the first half, little changed from P24.85 billion a year earlier.
“The operating environment remained challenging in the first half, requiring us to stay disciplined and focused,” Metrobank president Fabian Dee said.
“Our results reflect the strength of Metrobank’s core businesses, the continued trust of our clients, and our prudent approach to balancing growth and risk. We will continue to support our clients while pursuing sustainable growth in an uncertain environment,” he added.
Metrobank had P3.58 trillion in assets as of end-June, making it the country’s third-largest lender and putting it just ahead of state-run Land Bank of the Philippines at 3.54 trillion pesos, according to data compiled by Bankers.
