BDO Unibank Inc. remained the Philippines’ largest bank in the first half of 2026, leading the industry in assets, deposits and loans.
The Sy-led lender reported assets of ₱5.74 trillion as of end-June, ahead of its closest rivals. Deposits stood at ₱4.42 trillion, while its loan portfolio reached ₱3.85 trillion.
Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) ranked second by assets with ₱3.66 trillion. The Ayala-led bank had deposits of ₱2.78 trillion and loans of ₱2.6 trillion.
Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) moved into third place with assets of ₱3.58 trillion, edging past state-run Land Bank of the Philippines. The Ty-led lender reported deposits of ₱2.3 trillion and loans of ₱1.86 trillion.
Landbank slipped to fourth by assets with ₱3.54 trillion but remained second only to BDO in deposits, with ₱3.04 trillion. The government lender, which serves as an official depository of the national government, its agencies and local government units, had loans of ₱1.62 trillion.
China Banking Corp., also controlled by the Sy family, rounded out the five largest banks with ₱2.05 trillion in assets, ₱1.33 trillion in deposits and ₱1.02 trillion in loans.
Yuchengco-led Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. ranked sixth with ₱1.65 trillion in assets, ₱1.06 trillion in deposits and ₱848.7 billion in loans.
Security Bank Corp. was seventh with ₱1.54 trillion in assets, ₱893.63 billion in deposits and ₱729.84 billion in loans.
Lucio Tan-led Philippine National Bank followed with ₱1.37 trillion in assets, ₱1.03 trillion in deposits and ₱853.32 billion in loans.
Aboitiz-led Union Bank of the Philippines ranked ninth with ₱1.2 trillion in assets, ₱617.43 billion in deposits and ₱451.51 billion in loans.
State-owned Development Bank of the Philippines completed the top 10 with ₱1.05 trillion in assets, ₱828.13 billion in deposits and ₱651.73 billion in loans.
