‘Keep going, Alex’: BPI cheers Eala’s Wimbledon breakthrough

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) hailed long-time brand ambassador Alex Eala after the Filipina tennis star opened her Wimbledon campaign with a first-round victory, extending a breakthrough run that has elevated Philippine tennis on the global stage.

The victory came after Eala made history by becoming the first Filipina to be seeded in the singles main draw of Wimbledon, one of tennis’ four Grand Slam tournaments.

In a social media post, BPI described the achievement as “history and victory in one unforgettable start.”

The country’s oldest bank has backed Eala’s career for years, supporting her transition from junior champion to the professional ranks.

She is also the face of BPI’s “Do More” campaign, which encourages resilience, ambition and the pursuit of bigger goals.

Eala won the girls’ singles title at the 2022 U.S. Open before turning professional and has since established herself among the sport’s rising talents.

“Keep going, Alex! We’re cheering you every step of the way as you continue to do more,” BPI said.
