Philippine National Bank (PNB) has reached 2 million users on its digital banking platform, adding another milestone as the Lucio Tan-led lender marks its 110th anniversary.
“As PNB marks 110 years of serving Filipinos, we celebrate two million users on PNB Digital. Thank you for trusting us through every step. Here’s to more milestones, together,” the bank said in a social media post.
The digital milestone comes on the heels of stronger first-half earnings, with net income rising 17% to P14.6 billion from P12.5 billion a year earlier, driven by loan growth and lower credit impairment provisions.
“As PNB celebrates its 110th anniversary, our strong first-half performance highlights the strength and resilience of our franchise,” president and CEO Edwin Bautista said.
The bank’s gross non-performing loan ratio fell to 4.2% from 5.5% a year earlier as asset quality improved, while total assets climbed 4.4% to P1.35 trillion.
Its loan portfolio expanded 10% to P764 billion, supported by stronger lending activity and improved deployment of deposits.
Bautista said PNB remained resilient despite market volatility, citing its strong capital position and prudent risk management.
He added that more than 90% of the bank’s employees have completed artificial intelligence training as PNB accelerates its AI transformation and strengthens responsible AI governance.
