Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), the country’s fourth-largest lender by assets, hosted its fourth annual cybersecurity summit, urging closer cooperation among banks, regulators and law enforcement agencies to strengthen defenses against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
The Ayala-led lender held the conference under the theme “Defend as One: Building a United Front Towards Consumer Protection” as Philippine financial institutions face mounting pressure from regulators to combat online fraud, scams and other illicit financial activities.
“Strong institutions continuously invest in systems and safeguards. Informed consumers serve as the first line of defense,” BPI president and CEO TG Limcaoco said in a statement.
“Active collaboration brings together government, regulators, law enforcement, industry, and communities to address threats that no organization can solve alone,” he added.
The summit brought together representatives from the banking industry, government agencies and law enforcement to discuss emerging cybersecurity risks and measures to strengthen consumer protection amid the country’s accelerating digital financial adoption.
