State-run Land Bank of the Philippines and Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) are widening access to the government’s latest retail Treasury bond offering, which pays 6.875% annually and requires a minimum investment of ₱5,000.
The peso-denominated RTB 32, launched on Sept. 29, has a 2.5-year tenor, with interest paid quarterly. The offer runs until Oct. 7, unless the Bureau of the Treasury closes it earlier.
Landbank is making the bonds available through its and Overseas Filipino Bank’s mobile banking apps, allowing Filipinos in the Philippines and overseas to participate. Investors may also subscribe through its branch network.
DBP is offering the bonds through its 153 branches nationwide.
Finance Secretary Frederick Go said retail Treasury bonds have allowed Filipinos to invest their savings while helping finance government programs since they were introduced 25 years ago.
“Twenty-five years of RTBs have shown us that government borrowing can serve a broader purpose. It can give Filipinos a chance to take part in financing the country’s priorities and, in the process, become more active participants in the financial system,” Go said.
“Ultimately, RTBs connect two important goals: helping Filipinos build their own financial future, while contributing to the future of the Philippines,” he added.
Proceeds from RTB 32 will help finance government programs and projects, including infrastructure, agricultural modernization and healthcare.
Landbank president and CEO Lynette Ortiz said the digital channels were intended to make the investment more accessible to Filipinos at home and abroad.
“Through RTB 32, Landbank is bringing a safe and affordable investment within easier reach of Filipinos here and abroad, empowering them to grow their hard-earned savings and contribute to programs that uplift communities and strengthen the nation,” Ortiz said.
DBP president and CEO Michael de Jesus said the latest offering provides investors with a shorter tenor and higher interest rate.
“This latest issuance of RTB32 offers a viable opportunity for Filipinos to access an affordable and low-risk investment, while also enjoying higher interest rates over a shorter period,” de Jesus said.
