Security Bank marked its 75th anniversary with a pledge to sustain relevance and trust as it enters a new chapter under its newly-installed president and CEO Victor Lee Meng Teck.
“Our responsibility is to earn the next 75 years. That comes from doing the right things consistently, and doing them well for the customers we serve,” said Lee, who assumed his role in January 2026.
The lender reported solid results last year across core businesses, while absorbing the impact of investments in technology, platforms, and talent.
With a strong capital base, it is now focusing on asset selection, productivity, and long‑term growth. “We cannot be everything to everyone. Our focus is on doing the right things well for the customers we serve,” Lee added.
Security Bank continues to push its BetterBanking brand promise, aiming to make banking “simple, fast and personal.” While digital adoption accelerates, Lee emphasized that relationships remain central: “Digital makes banking easier. But relationships are what make banking meaningful.”
The bank’s 384 branches remain critical touchpoints. “Our branches are where trust is built. That will always be central to who we are,” Lee said.
Lee has spent his first 100 days engaging staff through Heartbeat Tours to understand operations on the ground. “You cannot lead effectively without understanding the culture,” he noted.
He stressed that pride and engagement drive performance. “When people take pride in what they do, excellence follows.”
Looking ahead, Lee said the bank will pursue disciplined growth, improved capital efficiency, and stronger returns, while maintaining its role in communities through consistent service and responsible banking. “If we stay disciplined in how we execute, and consistent in how we serve, we will earn the next 75 years,” Lee said.
