Veloso calls for sustained coordination among banks to strengthen financial stability

Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) president and general manager Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso reaffirmed the value of institutional continuity and industry-wide collaboration as he joined the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) Annual Advisory Council meeting.

Veloso, a former BAP president, gathered with past leaders of the association and current BAP president Jose Teodoro “TG” Limcaoco in a dialogue focused on advancing the banking sector’s priorities for the year.

The meeting served as a platform for BAP officers to present updates on key programs, while former presidents shared perspectives aimed at strengthening policy direction, governance standards, and strategic initiatives.

The discussions underscored the association’s long-standing tradition of stewardship, a culture that encourages knowledge-sharing between seasoned and current leaders to ensure consistency in leadership and decision-making.

Veloso stressed that sustained coordination among financial institutions is critical to preserving stability and bolstering public trust.

“Strong institutions are built on continuity and collaboration. When industry leaders work together, we reinforce financial stability and support long-term economic growth,” Veloso said.

As head of GSIS, the pension fund serving government employees and one of the country’s largest institutional investors, Veloso’s participation highlighted the growing alignment between public financial institutions and the private banking sector.

The meeting concluded with industry leaders reaffirming their commitment to sound governance, prudent risk management, and collaborative action.
