Valued at $2.5B: BDO emerges as top PH bank brand

With an estimated brand value of $2.5 billion, BDO Unibank has been named as the most valuable bank brand in the Philippines by a London-based consultancy firm.

Brand Finance said the valuation of the Sy-blings’ bank, which rose 14 percent from 2023, implies that selling just its brand, excluding operations and other assets, would amount to approximately 17 percent of its market capitalization.

Ranked next to BDO is the Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), whose brand value surged by 22 percent to $1.5 billion.

Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (Metrobank) also saw a 5-percent improvement in its brand value, reaching $1.2 billion, as per Brand Finance’s assessment.

On a global scale, BDO climbed nine spots to secure the 117th position among 500 brands ranked by Brand Finance worldwide. Despite a slight decline in its Brand Strength Index (BSI) score, BDO maintained its AAA brand strength rating.
