Union Bank of the Philippines led by bankero Edwin Bautista lost artificial intelligence (AI) and data policy head Maria Francesca Montes who has accepted a post in government service under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The Board of Directors of the Aboitiz-led bank approved the appointment of chief information security officer Jose Paolo Rufo as data protection officer effective last July 1.
Prior to joining the UnionBank, Rufo was head of data privacy and information security governance, and formerly served as head of data management and development of Globe Telecom Inc. from 2010 to 2018.
Rufo also served as head of SAP and database administration unit of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) from 2009 to 2010. He graduated with the degree in BS Statistics from University of the Philippines – Diliman.
Meanwhile, UnionBank announced the hiring of three senior offices effective July 1.
Raquel Sevidal who has 24 years of banking experience was designated as credit review head with the rank of senior vice president under the Office of the president/ CEO.
Sevidal was formerly first vice president and sub-group head – countryside of the commercial banking group of Ty-led Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (Metrobank).
Sevidal, who graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Santo Tomas and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at De La Salle University, started her career as relationship manager of Equitable PCIBank.
UnionBank also hired Jennifer Escasa as human resource operations head with the rank of vice president as well as Wenda Orejola as account officer with the rank of assistant vice president.
