Typhoon Enteng relief: GSIS extends emergency loans to calamity-declared areas

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has expanded its emergency loan program to provide financial assistance to members and pensioners affected by Typhoon Enteng.

The extension will be implemented following the receipt of a formal list of calamity-declared regions.

This expansion builds on GSIS’s existing emergency loan framework, which is currently active in multiple regions hit by previous calamities, including the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Typhoon Carina.

Application deadlines vary by region, with cutoff dates including October 26 for Oriental Mindoro, October 25 for Batangas, Rizal and NCR, October 29 for Bulacan and Pampanga, and others extending into November.

Active members residing or working in declared calamity areas, with at least six months of premium payments, and pensioners with a net monthly pension exceeding 25 percent of their total after loan repayments are eligible.

Members and pensioners with existing emergency loan balances can borrow up to P40,000 to settle previous debts. Those without existing balances can apply for a new P20,000 loan.

The loans come with a 6% annual interest rate and a three-year repayment period.

Applications can be submitted through the GSIS Touch mobile app or GWAPS kiosks located at GSIS branches, government offices, and select malls.
