Three-peat! Remolona keeps his spot among world’s top central bankers with A- grade

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Eli Remolona Jr. received an “A-” rating from Global Finance magazine for a third straight year, placing him among the publication’s highest-rated central bankers in 2026.

The New York-based magazine evaluates central bank chiefs on inflation control, economic growth, currency stability, interest rate management and political independence, with grades ranging from “A+” to “F.”

“What wonderful recognition! So grateful to Global Finance and to Team BSP! This will inspire us to work even harder to serve the Filipino people,” Remolona said in a social media post.

Global Finance founder and editorial director Joseph Giarraputo said central bankers were navigating persistent inflation, uncertain growth and rapidly changing economic conditions while seeking to maintain market and public confidence.

“Global Finance’s A Grade Central Bank Governors are leaders who have demonstrated the discipline, independence, and sound judgment needed to deliver stability while guiding their economies through an always unpredictable global environment,” Giarraputo said.

Remolona shared the “A-” grade with central bankers from 14 other economies, including Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Denmark’s Christian Kettel Thomsen and Peru’s Julio Velarde Flores received the highest “A+” grade, while central bankers from eight economies, including India, Singapore, South Africa and Chile, earned an “A.”

Global Finance has published its Central Banker Report Cards annually since 1994, assessing central bank governors from nearly 100 countries, territories and monetary jurisdictions.
