Swiss National Bank vice chairman: Inflation likely to rise in many countries

By Reuters

ZURICH, March 19 (Reuters) – The Swiss National Bank anticipates that the increase in energy prices will raise inflation in many countries in the short term, Vice Chairman Antoine Martin said on Thursday.

“With the conflict in the Middle East, the economic outlook has become considerably more uncertain,” said Martin after the SNB’s latest interest rate decision.

Global economic growth is likely to temporarily slow somewhat after solid growth in the fourth quarter, he added.—Reuters
