Standard Chartered Bank Philippines is urging companies to strengthen liquidity, risk management and working capital efficiency as rapid changes in digital payments reshape corporate treasury operations across Southeast Asia.
Grenville Pinto, Standard Chartered’s head of corporate coverage for the Philippines, said companies increasingly need connected and digitally enabled treasury functions to manage cash and risks and make faster, better-informed decisions.
Pinto made the remarks at the bank’s Treasury Leadership Forum 2026, which brought together corporate executives, regulators and industry specialists to discuss changes in payments and financial technology.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas deputy governor Mamerto Tangonan said regulation, innovation and resilience would play key roles in shaping the future of payments.
Standard Chartered’s head of global implementation for Singapore and ASEAN, Ian Wong, and Globe Telecom Vice President and Head of Treasury Bernice Olives discussed the shift toward digital treasury operations.
Philippine Digital Asset Exchange founder and CEO Nichel Gaba also discussed the growing role of digital assets in payments and settlements.
The forum also examined how companies can build more resilient treasury operations amid technological change, market volatility and cyber risks, including the use of artificial intelligence, tokenization, digital trade and real-time payments.
