The chief information security officer of listed Security Bank Corporation has tendered his resignation that takes effect on March 1.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the lender said the departure of senior vice president and chief information security officer Gary Butler was occasioned by employment opportunities elsewhere.
Just last December 7, Security Bank informed the PSE that the effectivity of the hiring of Butler as chief information security officer has yet to be determined.
Butler was still in New Zealand when travel restrictions then prevented him from flying over to the Philippines.
It was not clear whether actually Butler made it to Manila.
Butler used to be head of Thailand’s Siam Commercial Bank as head of cyber and information technology risk management from 2018 to 2021; GB Information Systems Security from 2007 to 2018, IT/cyber security manager ICAP; IT security operations manager, Corporate Banking Group; UK head, global technology services security and risk at the Societe Generale; IT security manager at the Swiss Re/Admin Re; senior security architect at the Royal Bank of Scotland; senior security Aachitect at Bank of Ireland; senior security architect at the Hyperion Insurance Group and Information security consultant at Capital One Bank.
Butler was one of the three expatriates hired by Security Bank on September 28, 2021. The two others include Jiri Matousek as senior vice president and transformation head for retail banking as well as Sohel Kanchwala as senior vice president and head of collections.
