SB Corp. sets P12 billion loan target for MSMEs

The Small Business Corp. (SBCorp.) is targeting up to P12 billion in loan releases to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) this year, according to its president Robert Bastillo.

This is slightly higher than the 11.2 billion disbursed in 2025.

Bastillo said demand has risen as the government pushes small businesses to expand and overseas Filipino workers affected by events abroad to start enterprises.

He added SBCorp could request additional budget from the Department of Budget and Management if needed.

Most borrowers are micro entrepreneurs, with women accounting for about 60% of disbursements following the launch of the Women’s Enterprise Fund, which offers loans from P30,000 up to P20 million at 1% monthly interest.

Also, we’ve been talking to women groups, and they are the ones encouraging their members to apply for loans,” Bastillo said, noting that SBCorp’s mobile app and DTI roadshows have boosted accessibility.
