Romy Bernardo sworn in as member of the Monetary Board

Romeo Bernardo, a former Finance undersecretary and board member of various listed companies, has assumed a new role as a member of the Monetary Board.

In a statement released Friday, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said that Bernardo officially took his oath of office on September 14. The oath was administered by BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona Jr. at the BSP head office.

Bernardo’s extensive career spans several prestigious positions, including his tenure as Undersecretary of Finance from 1990 to 1996. He has also contributed his expertise to renowned multilateral institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Asian Development Bank.

Furthermore, he is a co-founder and serves as the vice chair of the Foundation for Economic Freedom, an organization known for its successful advocacy for tariff reductions on agricultural products.
