RCBC launches P5 billion ASEAN sustainability bond offering

Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) is moving to capitalize on the Philippines’ appetite for green debt by raising at least P5 billion through a new sustainability bond offering.

The three-year, fixed-rate notes represent the ninth drawdown from the bank’s P200 billion bond and commercial paper program.

The Securities and Exchange Commission granted the bond the “ASEAN” label on Feb. 23, certifying it under regional standards that require proceeds to be used for environmental and social projects.

RCBC may upsize the offering beyond P5 billion depending on investor demand.

Standard Chartered Bank and RCBC Capital Corp. are the mandated joint lead arrangers and bookrunners for the transaction.

The public offer runs from March 12 to 27, with the notes expected to list on the Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corp. on April 8.

RCBC has been a frequent issuer in the thematic debt market, having previously raised P32.4 billion via sustainability bonds in 2025 to fund projects ranging from renewable energy to social housing and healthcare.

The bank reported a net income of P10.6 billion in 2025, an 11% year-on-year increase, as net interest income surged 32%.
