The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has released P27.29 billion in microloans to 463,608 active government employees under its Ginhawa Go program.
The loan facility, previously known as Ginhawa Lite and relaunched as Ginhawa Go in February 2026, provides short-term financing to government workers for urgent expenses as an alternative to informal and high-cost lenders.
The P27.29 billion in loans were released from Oct. 24, 2024 to July 28, 2026.
Finance Secretary Frederick Go, who oversees GSIS as head of the Department of Finance, led the relaunch of the program on Feb. 19.
“This program protects employees from abusive lending processes,” Go said.
Under Ginhawa Go, eligible GSIS members can borrow between P1,000 and P50,000 at an interest rate of 6%, with repayment periods ranging from 30 days to 24 months depending on the loan amount.
Applications are processed through the GSIS Touch mobile app, with approved loan proceeds credited directly to members’ accounts.
The loans also carry Loan Redemption Insurance, which settles any outstanding balance if the borrower dies, shielding the member’s family from the unpaid obligation.
“Ginhawa Go answers a basic need for our members: quick, dignified access to credit that will not push them toward informal lenders,” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said.
“The volume moving through this program tells us it is filling a gap our members needed filled.”
Eligible government employees can check their qualifications and apply through the GSIS Touch mobile app or at GSIS branches nationwide.
