More than 73,000 Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) personnel have received financial education through a BDO Foundation initiative aimed at helping soldiers manage their money, avoid scams and prepare for life after military service.
The corporate social responsibility arm of Sy-led BDO Unibank Inc. partnered with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the AFP to supplement military training with practical lessons on saving, budgeting, investing, debt management, fraud prevention and retirement planning.
“Beyond the tour of duty, our servicemen and women deserve the tools to achieve lasting financial security and prosperity,” BDO said in a social media post.
The program had reached more than 73,000 AFP personnel as of December 2025, earning BDO Foundation the military’s Golden Flame of Partnership Award.
Established in 2008, BDO Foundation also supports financial inclusion, disaster relief and community development through partnerships with government agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Its initiatives include rehabilitating rural health units, building schools and providing financial education to underserved communities.
