The country intends to bolster ties with South Korea through the effectiveness of the FTA.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo said that the DTI expects the signing of the free trade agreement (FTA) between the Philippines and South Korea to be signed in November and be in force by 2023. Mr. Rodolfo is set to meet with South Korean government officials from October 14 to 17 to iron out the details of the signing. He further said that the Philippines’ priority interest in the FTA would be on the exportation of banana and processed pineapple to South Korea, adding that these goods are currently being levied a 30-percent tariff.
