The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) announced that its mobile app, GSIS Touch, has crossed the two-million-user mark, signaling the agency’s push toward digitalization.
With over 2.7 million members and pensioners, the app now serves a large portion of the GSIS community, with 99.6% of services fully digitalized.
“Reaching two million users shows that our digital-first strategy is resonating with our members,” said GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso. “Especially now, when quick and secure access to services like emergency loans is more critical than ever, this milestone means two million members can get assistance from the comfort of their homes.”
Since its launch in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, GSIS Touch has evolved from a basic self-service tool into an award-winning, comprehensive mobile platform. It provides round-the-clock, paperless access, reducing the need for physical visits to branches.
The app’s rapid growth is driven by features like facial recognition technology, which “ensures secure identity verification and safeguards members from fraud,” Veloso added. It also generates a GSIS Digital ID, replacing physical cards and simplifying transactions.
Members can now apply for loans, file claims, and monitor their requests in real time — all without queues or paperwork.
“By mid-2025, most of our loan applications and service requests are now initiated via the app, a major shift from traditional methods, ” Veloso said.
This digital transformation has also boosted efficiency, with online enrollment alone reducing processing times by 77%.
