More loans for farmers: Bayanihan Bank, DA team up in CALABARZON

Quezon-based Bayanihan Bank Inc. has been tapped by the Department of Agriculture to help expand access to agricultural credit in the CALABARZON region.

The rural bank signed an agreement with the Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Credit Policy Council (DA-ACPC) on Sept. 24, formalizing its role as a credit fund administrator for the government’s agricultural financing programs.

Under the agreement, Bayanihan Bank will assist qualified cooperatives in Quezon and Laguna that will serve as credit retailers, channeling funds to farmers and other agricultural borrowers.

The bank will also monitor transactions involving the disbursement and collection accounts of accredited credit retailers to ensure that program funds are used in accordance with government guidelines.

It has worked with the ACPC since 2022, providing financing to the Samahan ng Magsasaka at Magpipinya ng Brgy. Nieva in General Luna, Quezon, to support its livelihood and agricultural activities.

Bayanihan Bank was the Philippines’ 39th-largest rural bank by assets as of end-June, with ₱1.67 billion. It ranked 38th in deposits with ₱1.22 billion and 37th in loans with ₱1.16 billion.
