Metrobank raises P35B in largest-ever bond sale as demand surges 7x

Metrobank has raised P35 billion through its Series F ASEAN Sustainability Peso bonds, its largest peso issuance to date, after strong investor demand prompted an early close of the offer.

The 1.5-year bonds, priced at a fixed rate of 5.4727% per annum, attracted orders seven times the P5 billion base offer size. The public offer period, initially set for March 17–30, 2026, ended on March 23.

Proceeds will diversify funding sources and support lending aligned with Metrobank’s Sustainable Finance Framework, which Moody’s Ratings scored SQS2 (“Very Good”) for sustainability quality. Funds will be directed to eligible green and social projects.

“We are encouraged by the strong response to this issuance, which reflects the trust our clients and partners continue to place in Metrobank,” said John Lu, Head of the Treasury Group. “It also highlights the growing demand for investments that deliver not only financial returns, but also meaningful and lasting impact.”

First Metro Investment Corp., ING Bank N.V. Manila Branch, and Standard Chartered Bank served as joint lead managers and bookrunners. ING acted as sustainability coordinator.

Metrobank said it remains focused on disciplined financial decisions to support stability and long-term growth, underscoring its commitment to sustainable and inclusive development.
