Metrobank offers 1.5-year peso sustainability bonds at 5.47%

Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. has begun offering its Series F ASEAN Sustainability Peso bonds, targeting at least ₱5 billion with an option to increase the size.

The securities carry a fixed annual interest rate of 5.4727% and mature in 1.5 years. The offer runs from March 17 to March 30, with issuance and listing on the Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corp. scheduled for April 14.

Proceeds will be used to broaden Metrobank’s funding base and support lending.

Under its Sustainable Finance Framework, the bank said funds will be allocated to finance or refinance eligible green and social assets, backing projects “that deliver positive environmental and social impact.”

The minimum investment is ₱500,000, with increments of ₱100,000.

First Metro Investment Corp., ING Bank N.V. Manila Branch, and Standard Chartered Bank are joint lead managers and bookrunners. ING also acts as sustainability coordinator.

The sale is part of Metrobank’s ₱200 billion bond and commercial paper program approved in December 2021.
