Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. has doubled its daily limit for real-time electronic fund transfers to capture a larger share of the country’s high-value digital retail flows.
The Ty-led lender raised its daily InstaPay cap to ₱100,000 from ₱50,000, effective April 22, to provide depositors with greater liquidity for real-time fund transfers.
While the aggregate ceiling was lifted, Metrobank maintained a single-transaction ceiling of ₱50,000.
The move aligns with a Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas mandate to shift 50 percent of retail payment volumes to digital channels.
Metrobank currently charges P8 per InstaPay transaction to other banks or e-wallets, undercutting the P10 to P25 range typically charged by its major local competitors.
Transfers between Metrobank accounts remain free of charge.
