Metrobank bond sale closes a week early

Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co. (Metrobank) cut short its offer of Series F ASEAN Sustainability peso bonds after attracting strong demand from institutional and retail investors.

The offer, originally scheduled to run until March 30, closed on March 23. The 1.5‑year bonds carry a fixed rate of 5.4727% per annum and are set for issuance and listing on the Philippine Dealing and Exchange Corp. on April 14.

Proceeds will support lending, diversify funding sources and finance or refinance eligible green and social assets under Metrobank’s Sustainable Finance Framework.

The issuance forms part of the bank’s P200‑billion bond and commercial paper program approved in 2021.

First Metro Investment Corp., ING Bank N.V. Manila Branch and Standard Chartered Bank acted as joint lead managers and bookrunners, with ING also serving as sustainability coordinator.

The bonds are exempt from registration under Section 9.1(E) of the Securities Regulation Code.
