The Maybank Group has appointed Abigail Tine “Gail” Del Rosario as president and CEO of Maybank Philippines Inc.
Del Rosario is the first Filipina appointed to this highest executive position in the country and the second female in this role within the Maybank International Group.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has approved the appointment of Del Rosario.
Del Rosario’s role is to provide overall leadership in managing all aspects of MPI’s operations to ensure that the bank meets its short-term and long-term goals and objectives, complies with its policies and prudential regulatory requirements, and maximizes its return to stakeholders.
Prior to this appointment, Del Rosario was the president and CEO officer-in-charge since February last year, helping steer the bank in achieving its financial targets.
With more than 20 years of extensive retail banking experience, Del Rosario is well known in the financial industry as a charismatic and dynamic leader, having built successful teams as country head of Retail Banking in Standard Chartered Bank (SCB).
Del Rosario was also the Director of Price Solutions PI and Asia – Bancassurance, both subsidiaries of SCB.
Prior to joining Maybank, Del Rosario was the senior vice president and head of wealth management at Gotianun-led East West Bank and chaired BancNet in 2013 where she served as director from 2005 to 2015.
Maybank has 61 branches all over the Philippines, of which 27 are in Metro Manila and the rest are strategically located in key cities of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
