Maya Bank is urging employers in the Philippines’ information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) sector to link digital payroll with savings and credit services, as the industry seeks to strengthen workforce competitiveness.
Speaking at the International IT-BPM Summit 2026, Maya Bank president Angelo Madrid said investment in technology and skills should be accompanied by financial tools that help workers build financial security.
“Filipino workers who help customers around the world manage their finances should also have the tools to build financial security for themselves,” Madrid said.
The sector employed 1.9 million workers and generated more than $40.3 billion in revenue in 2025, accounting for eight percent of the country’s gross domestic product, according to the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP).
Maya is working with IBPAP and business process outsourcing (BPO) firms to expand employees’ access to banking services while modernizing payroll, disbursement and reimbursement systems.
Through Maya Business, employers can process salaries and other payouts digitally, reducing manual administrative work, particularly for companies operating across multiple sites and shifts.
Workers can receive their pay through the Maya app, which offers savings products, including Maya Savings, Personal Goals and Time Deposit Plus, as well as credit facilities subject to eligibility and assessment.
“The opportunity is to make payroll more efficient for employers while helping employees manage their money beyond payday,” Madrid said.
He also stressed the need for stronger financial and technological expertise as the IT-BPM industry moves into higher-value services.
Maya, which develops its core technology in-house, uses artificial intelligence for credit assessment, fraud prevention, personalization and operations.
