MariBank Philippines Inc. held about P70.5 billion in customer deposits in the first half of 2026 and disbursed P45.7 billion in loans to individuals and businesses, its president Siew Ghee Kung Lim said.
The digital bank also invested P26.4 billion in government securities and kept nearly P10.8 billion with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and other banks for liquidity, Lim said in a social media post.
“What does a bank actually do? At its core, a bank plays a simple role in society. Some people have excess money, others need money… and a bank connects them,” Lim said.
“These aren’t separate piles of money. Everything is managed together as one balance sheet. That’s financial intermediation. Moving money from where it is available to where it is needed while managing the risks in between,” he added.
The BSP in July upgraded MariBank’s license from a rural bank to a digital bank, formally placing it under the country’s digital banking framework.
MariBank, formerly SeaBank Philippines, was the country’s largest rural bank by assets before the conversion and became the Philippines’ seventh digital bank.
It joined GoTyme Bank, Maya Bank, Overseas Filipino Bank, Tonik Digital Bank, UnionDigital Bank and UnoBank Inc.
MariBank had P70.18 billion in assets as of end-March. It is part of Singapore-based Sea Ltd., which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
