Landbank takes digital banking to 66,000 campus users

More than 66,000 students, faculty and other campus stakeholders across 23 Philippine schools have gained access to digital financial services under Land Bank of the Philippines’ Cash-Lite Campus program.

Launched in April 2025, the program is designed to move more school transactions online while introducing students and campus merchants to formal banking and digital payments.

“Landbank’s Cash-Lite Campus program goes beyond making payments easier. It gives students and campus entrepreneurs practical financial tools for managing their everyday transactions. By introducing digital banking early, we help young Filipinos build responsible financial habits and prepare for an increasingly digital economy,” Landbank president and CEO Lynette Ortiz said.

Students can open a Landbank PISO Plus account through their mobile phones without an initial deposit or maintaining balance and use the lender’s Mobile Banking App for transactions.

Schools can collect tuition and other fees through Landbank’s Link.BizPortal, reducing the need for over-the-counter payments.

The program also covers food vendors, micro-merchants and transport providers operating within school communities, connecting them to formal banking and digital payment services.

Cash-Lite Campus has been rolled out at campuses of the University of the Philippines, University of Makati, Central Luzon State University, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Southern Leyte State University and Central Mindanao University, among other state colleges and universities.

Landbank recently expanded the program to Western Mindanao State University in Zamboanga City, where students received training on digital banking safety, budgeting and cyber hygiene.

The initiative is part of the state-run lender’s broader push to expand digital payments and financial inclusion, particularly among younger Filipinos.
