Land Bank of the Philippines has assured beneficiaries of the P3-billion Fuel Subsidy Program of ‘fast and timely’ crediting of the fuel subsidy to their cash cards.
However, the release of the subsidy is covered by the election ban on spending of public funds for social welfare projects.
According to Land Bank, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board is seeking an exemption from the Commission on Elections so it can distribute the subsidies to public utility vehicle drivers and operators.
COMELEC Resolution No. 10944 prohibits the release, disbursement, or spending of public funds for social welfare from September 15 to October 30, 2023 because of the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataang elections.
The Department of Budget and Management issued the special allotment release order for the P3 billion fuel subsidy program to the Department of Transportation only on Sept. 7.
