The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and fintech firm Maya have launched a program to expand access to credit cards and banking services for nearly 1.9 million digital workers.
The initiative, announced as Maya joined IBPAP, targets employees in the IT-BPM sector, which contributes about 8% of GDP and generates more than $40 billion annually.
IBPAP president Jack Madrid said the program would boost workforce stability, while Maya CEO Orlando Vea said it would help workers build formal credit histories and reduce reliance on informal lending.
The partnership will also explore modernizing payroll and reimbursement systems across IT-BPM firms.
