The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is offering emergency loans to members and pensioners affected by natural disasters in Albay and Cebu City.
The loans are available nationwide until Feb. 7, 2026, for active members, as well as old-age and disability pensioners working or residing in the affected areas.
PHILVOLCS raised Mayon Volcano to Alert Level 3, prompting evacuations, while heavy rains caused a landfill in Barangay Binaliw, Cebu City, to erode.
The emergency loans aim to help members and pensioners cope with temporary displacement, livelihood loss, and other disruptions.
Eligible applicants must have at least three months of paid premiums in the last six months, no pending cases, and a minimum take-home pay of Php 5,000. Pensioners may apply if 25 percent of their monthly pension remains after loan deductions.
New applicants may borrow up to P20,000, while those with existing loans may access up to P40,000, capped at a net P20,000.
Loans carry a three-year term, 6 percent annual interest, no processing fee, and are covered by loan redemption insurance, which clears the debt in case of death if payments are current.
