The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has partnered with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) to invest $300 million in infrastructure projects worldwide, including transport, energy, and digitalization.
The agreement was signed in New York on Wednesday by GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso and GIP partner James Amine.
The partnership aims to diversify assets and generate higher returns for GSIS’s two million members and pensioners.
GIP, a New York-based infrastructure fund manager, has $87 billion in assets under management and specializes in power and utilities, air transport infrastructure, natural resources infrastructure, seaports, water distribution and treatment, waste management, and freight railroads.
It has an excellent track record of working with public sector co-investors and stakeholders to improve infrastructure.
