GSIS rolls out fast-track loan for laptops, tablets, phones

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) launched a new loan program to help government employees purchase laptops, tablets, and mobile phones for work and study.

Members can apply through the GSIS Touch mobile app, offering a fast, paperless process. Approved loans will be credited directly to a member’s GSIS ATM account within one to three banking days after agency approval.

GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso said the program recognizes the growing need for digital tools as public servants adapt to remote and hybrid work arrangements.

“Alam natin ang realidad. Sa work-from-home at online learning, ang computers at gadgets ay pangangailangan na, hindi luho. Kaya inilunsad natin ang Digital Ginhawa Loan para matulungan ang ating mga miyembro na magkaroon ng mga kagamitan para sa kanilang trabaho at pag-aaral,” Veloso said.

The loan program also supports GSIS’ broader digital transformation, encouraging members to use the GSIS Touch app for loan applications, record updates, and access to pension and insurance services.

The initiative follows the success of the 2020 GSIS Computer Loan Program, which benefited over 355,000 members and released more than PHP10.67 billion in loans.

Eligible members must be in active service under permanent status, have no pending administrative or criminal cases, and have no defaulted GSIS loans, except for housing or prior computer loans.

The loan includes redemption insurance to cover any remaining balance in case of the borrower’s death during repayment.
