The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has launched an Emergency Loan Program to assist members and pensioners affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
The program is operational in Albay and Naga City and will be activated in other areas declared under a state of calamity.
GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso encouraged members and pensioners to use the GSIS Touch mobile app for secure and expedient loan applications.
Eligible members without an existing emergency loan can borrow up to ₱20,000, while those with outstanding balances may apply for up to ₱40,000. The loan carries an interest rate of six percent per annum, repayable over three years.
To qualify, members must be actively employed, not on leave without pay, have no pending administrative or legal cases, and have paid at least six months of premiums, with a net take-home pay of at least ₱5,000.
Pensioners must maintain a net pension of at least 25 percent of their pension after loan amortization.
