GSIS Ginhawa loans in action: P942B aids teachers, cops, clerks

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has disbursed ₱942.4 billion in loans to more than 1.1 million government employees since 2020 under its Multi-Purpose Loan (MPL) programs, now rebranded as Ginhawa loans.

Launched in 2020 to replace the Consolidated Loan Program, the MPL offers faster processing and improved terms aimed at helping members address a range of needs, including family emergencies, education, and livelihood support.

The program’s five-year total is nearing the ₱1 trillion mark, underscoring the sustained demand for affordable credit among public sector workers.

“Nearly ₱1 trillion in disbursements reflect the real financial needs of government employees and their families,” said GSIS officer-in-charge Juliet Bautista.

The Ginhawa loan program includes three options tailored to different borrower needs. Ginhawa Lite provides quick cash assistance, Ginhawa Flex supports recurring expenses such as tuition and medical bills, while Ginhawa Max enables members to consolidate high-interest private loans into GSIS financing.

Interest rates range from 6% to 7% per annum, with Ginhawa Max waiving service fees entirely.

GSIS said the Ginhawa loan programs are part of its commitment to supporting the financial stability of government employees through accessible, member-friendly credit solutions.
