From emerging to exceptional: Philippines rises to No.2 in global IR and ESG rankings

The Philippines ranked second globally in investor relations and transparency among 54 emerging and frontier markets, according to a report by the Institute of International Finance (IIF), reflecting improved access to economic data and policy communication.

The country scored 49.3 out of 50 in the 2025 Investor Relations and Debt Transparency Report, up from 48.9 in the previous year. It trailed only Indonesia, which received a score of 49.4.

The IIF assessment is based on three components: investor relations practices, debt transparency, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data and policy dissemination.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona Jr. said the ranking affirms the Philippines’ efforts to maintain open engagement with global investors and rating agencies.

“The BSP remains committed to working with the government to further improve the country’s investor relations through enhanced dialogues and continuous data transparency,” Remolona said in a statement.

The Philippines also scored 12.3 out of 13 in debt transparency, ranking joint third with Brazil and Chile, and received a perfect score of 4 out of 4 in ESG data dissemination, according to the report.

The BSP said its investor relations program includes regular briefings, roadshows, and online access to fiscal, monetary, and ESG-related information.

The IIF is a Washington, D.C.-based industry group representing more than 400 global financial institutions.
