Finance Secretary Frederick Go has officially joined the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)’s Monetary Board, positioning him at the heart of the Philippines’ monetary and fiscal policy decisions.

Appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Go succeeds former finance secretary Ralph G. Recto, who is now Executive Secretary. He took his oath on Jan. 8, administered by BSP Governor and Monetary Board Chairman Eli Remolona Jr. at the BSP headquarters in Manila.

“I am honored to accept my appointment to the Monetary Board and sincerely thank the President for his continued trust and confidence,” Go said.

“I will pursue the strategic alignment of fiscal and monetary policies in support of the Board’s mandate to maintain price stability and safeguard our financial system. I look forward to working with my fellow Monetary Board members in building an economy that is resilient, robust, and inclusive for every Filipino.”

The Monetary Board, BSP’s policy-making body, includes Benjamin Diokno, Romeo Bernardo, Rosalia De Leon, Jose Querubin, and Walter Wassmer. Together, they set key levers affecting interest rates, inflation management, and financial system stability.

Before his Cabinet role, Go served as Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs, overseeing economic and investment policies, chairing the Economic Development Group, and coordinating with agencies including the Department of Finance, Department of Budget and Management, and Board of Investments.

Go also brings deep private sector experience, having led Robinsons Land Corporation as CEO and held executive roles across banking, finance, media, retail, food, airlines, airports, petrochemicals, and power.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in management engineering from Ateneo de Manila University.
