Former PAL president’s attendance uncertain at 83rd anniversary of Lucio Tan’s airline

Philippine Airlines (PAL), owned by bilyonaryo Lucio Tan and affiliated with the Philippine National Bank, is preparing to take off for its 83rd birthday on March 15.

To commemorate this significant milestone, the airline is reaching out to past leaders, officials, and employees, inviting them to share their memories and well wishes through video messages.

One former president, who served for 13 years, graciously contributed a message that will be featured in a special video presentation during the celebratory event. However, according to a Bankero source, the former PAL president, who currently holds a government position under President Bongbong Marcos and oversees the country’s transport operations, has indicated that he may not be able to attend the event.

Reaching 83 years is a remarkable achievement, showcasing PAL’s steadfast commitment to connecting the Philippines to the world. The airline has weathered numerous storms, both financial and leadership-related, throughout its long and storied history. As it charts its course toward the future, PAL remains committed to upholding a legacy of excellence and innovation.
