Fitch Ratings affirms the Philippines’ “BBB” credit rating with a “stable” outlook, citing the country’s declining debt and resilient economy, acknowledging the central bank’s efforts to manage inflation.
The decision is grounded in strong medium-term growth prospects, macroeconomic stability, and sound economic policies, as the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has raised the policy rate by 450 basis points to 6.5 percent to address inflation concerns.
Fitch anticipates the Philippines’ GDP to grow above six percent, driven by infrastructure investments and trade reforms, while government debt is expected to decline to 54 percent of GDP by 2025.
