Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) has become the first Philippine bank to offer a digital feature allowing users to hold U.S. dollars and convert them to pesos in real time, giving customers more control over timing and exchange rates.
The service, available on RCBC Pulz, is designed for Filipino freelancers, virtual assistants, and remote workers who regularly receive payments from U.S. clients or employers.
Developed in partnership with U.S.-based payments provider Meridian, it lets users retain dollar balances and convert funds when market conditions are favorable.
RCBC Pulz serves as the bank’s flagship digital platform, offering cardless and QR-powered withdrawals, cash deposits, in-app investments, bill payments, mobile loading, global remittances, bank transfers, digital check deposits, foreign exchange in eight major currencies, PERA accounts, loan applications, credit card management, and QR-based retail payments.
Lito Villanueva, RCBC executive vice president and Chief Innovations and Inclusion Officer, said the feature aligns with the bank’s efforts to meet the financial needs of Filipinos engaged in cross-border work.
“These services give customers greater control over their foreign currency funds and allow them to plan better for both everyday needs and long-term goals,” Villanueva said.
