Maya is giving customers greater control over their accounts and transactions as it strengthens its defenses against online fraud.
Through its upgraded in-app Security Center, customers can authorize Send Money transactions using facial or fingerprint recognition instead of SMS one-time passwords, review login activity and remove unfamiliar devices from their trusted-phone list.
“Protecting our customers’ money requires continuing investment in infrastructure, safeguards, monitoring and incident response. It also means giving customers clear ways to manage their account security and reach us when they need help,” Maya Group president and Maya Bank co-founder Shailesh Baidwan said.
Introduced late last year, Security Center brings key account protection tools into one place, allowing customers with upgraded accounts to enroll trusted phones and authorize Send Money transactions using biometrics instead of SMS one-time passwords, subject to security checks.
Users can also remove trusted devices, review previous logins and update their registered mobile numbers, passwords and email addresses.
For added control over transactions, Maya Black and Landers Cashback Everywhere credit cardholders can freeze their cards directly through the app.
Customers can also adjust limits on InstaPay transfers from Maya Wallet to other banks and Insta-fill transfers from Maya Savings to Maya Wallet.
The features complement Maya’s artificial intelligence-supported fraud monitoring and ScamPatrol campaign, which helps customers recognize suspicious messages and common online scams.
Maya also works with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), Department of Justice and Philippine National Police to combat financial fraud.
