Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. will cut its InstaPay transfer fee to P8 per transaction starting Feb. 1, 2026, the cheapest in its history, as the Ty family‑controlled lender intensifies efforts to win customers in the fast‑growing digital payments market.
The fee, previously P25, puts Metrobank among the most competitive players. Transfers between Metrobank accounts remain free.
The bank said the move is aimed at embedding digital banking into routine transactions, from household bills to small business payments.
“By lowering our InstaPay fee to P8, we are making digital payments more convenient for our customers,” said Ramon Del Rosario, Metrobank Consumer Business Sector Head. “It’s about supporting Filipinos in their day‑to‑day financial needs.”

“We just want our clients to have more options,” he added. “Every transaction should be simple, secure, and now, more affordable.”
The cut builds on Metrobank’s rollout of eSavings last year, a digital account requiring only P2,000 to open. The product is designed to attract first‑time depositors and broaden access to savings tools.
Metrobank said clients can open eSavings accounts via its app or at branches nationwide to take advantage of lower InstaPay fees and free Metrobank‑to‑Metrobank transfers.
The bank is positioning itself as a key player in the Philippines’ shift toward electronic payments, a sector regulators are pushing to expand as cash use declines.
