The Social Security System (SSS) has released P32.19 billion in 13th month and December pensions to over 3.6 million pensioners as early as November 29, 2024.
The move is aimed at providing financial relief ahead of the holiday season.
This early release is part of the SSS’s efforts to provide financial support to its pensioners as they prepare for the holiday season.
“We are aware of the plight of our pensioners who were not spared by the recent tropical cyclones that lashed the country in less than a month,” said Voltaire P. Agas, SSS officer-in-charge. “The early crediting of these pensions can help address some of their financial needs as they try to rebuild their lives after a series of calamities struck the country.”
The distribution was done in two batches. The first batch, worth P17.9 billion, was credited on November 29 to 2.09 million pensioners with contingency dates between the 1st and the 15th of the month.
The second batch, totaling P14.3 billion, was distributed on December 4, benefiting 1.52 million pensioners whose contingency dates fell between the 16th and the end of the month.
The SSS also released approximately P41.6 million worth of 13th month and December pensions to over 6,000 pensioners through non-PESONet participating banks and checks.
Pensioners in these non-PESONet banks received their payments on December 4, and the Philippine Postal Corporation has been instructed to expedite the delivery of checks to pensioners’ home addresses.
As part of the release, pensioners who had availed of the advance 18-month pensions for their initial benefit also received their 13th month pensions on December 4.
