Dominion Holdings first half earnings fall to P71.6M after big dividend payout

Dominion Holdings, Inc. (formerly BDO Leasing and Finance) said its first-half profit fell to ₱71.6 million from ₱134.5 million a year earlier, hurt by a smaller pool of investable funds and weaker interest rates.

The drop followed the company’s declaration of ₱3.2 billion in cash dividends in May 2024, which reduced the funds available for investment. The lower interest rate environment also weighed on returns.

Despite the earnings decline, Dominion said it continued to reinvest income from its portfolio. Total assets rose to ₱3.4 billion as of June from ₱3.3 billion a year earlier, while stockholders’ equity climbed to the same level, reflecting retained earnings.

The company’s liabilities were minimal at ₱10.8 million.
