The Department of Finance is pushing to expand Filipinos’ access to insurance and health coverage as the government seeks to narrow the country’s protection gap and help households withstand financial shocks.
Finance Assistant Secretary Kristine Joy Diaz-Teston said a stronger insurance sector could help families cope with unexpected expenses and plan for the future.
Speaking on behalf of Finance Secretary Frederick Go at Pru Life UK’s 30th anniversary, Diaz-Teston recognized the insurer’s role in providing protection and long-term financial security to Filipino families.
She said the government would continue working with the private sector to broaden financial inclusion, while pursuing sound fiscal management, easier business processes and the digitalization of public services to support investment and innovation.
